5 Ways I Use Apple Cider Vinegar In My Beauty Routine

Sunday, August 07, 2016

I first heard about ACV from Youtube, and in less that three minutes I was love struck. Here was a liquid that could solve all my problems: uneven skin, a bit of bloat that had me feeling heavy and unfit, and my hair issues. So I took a quick run to the store some months later ( yes, months. Im a bit extreme about beauty decisions.

Fast forward to today and I am loving my ACV even more than I could have ever imagined. I mean, you guys! Apple Cider Vinegar is a girls best friend and trust me I have tried A LOT of beauty products in my lifetime.

The thing I love the most about ACV is the fact that it is purely organic which means that there are no unpronounceable chemicals that might be destructive to your skin. It is merely fermented apples that gradually have been broken down from the alcoholic state into vinegar.

And the best part is... its cheap!

You could get a bottle that could last you for a year for like four thousand naira (4k)

Okay, so let me tell you how I use it.

1. As A Toner

I use ACV as a toner every night after washing my face. I know Mo'çheddah does this too because I follow her on snapchat. I simply take one tablespoon of ACV and add half a glass of water to dilute.
Never use ACV in its raw form on your face. It is extremely acidic. You can dilute with less or more water depending on your skin type.

This toner also helps to clear sun spots gotten from exposure to sunlight.

2. As A Skin Clearing Detox Drink

Every morning I try to have green tea to flush my system. I noticed that adding a few teaspoons of ACV or one capful really does wonders for my skin. Skincare really does begin on the inside, so I think this helps. I also add acv in my water bottle that I take to work daily whenever I am out of lemons.

3. As A Face Mask

I love a good homemade facemask as much as the next girl. I like to put a twist by adding some diluted Apple Cider Vinegar to any face mask I use. My current fave has to be an oatmeal and banana facemask. It is soooo soothing! and it leaves my face feeling smoother than a baby's behind. I have a video showing you how to make yours on my youtube channel  .

4. As A Hair Rinse

I recently started this because I saw some naturalista videos and this is what a lot of them do. Im no naturalista but I love the care they give to their hair so I tend to treat my hair like they treat theirs.
Its pretty simple. After shampooing and conditioning, I take a mix of water, ACV and some good 'ol coconut oil and I use that to thoroughly rinse out watever product is left in my hair. It leaves my hair looking really shiny and my dandruff has reduced drastically.

5. As A Salad Dressing

Before you all come for me, I believe what I eat is part of my beauty routine. I am not team #fitfam trust me, but I try to have a salad as a side dish as often as I can so mostly I make a large salad bowl on Sundays and this lasts till like Wednesday before I make another one. Id recommend a fresh salad daily, but if you dont have time this works just fine. My recipe is really simple:
ACV + Honey + a bit of pepper
I find that the ACV helps in preserving the veggies and its a sweet and sour kinda taste with a hint of spicy and its a lot healthier than cream or mayo.

These are the few ways I use ACV on a day-to-day. Tell me anyone you've tried and hated or loved and how you use ACV. Also are there other ways I dont know about, share your knowledge with me in the comments section and If you'd like to see more youtube videos let me know!
